Directed Prayer:

Take some time by yourself or with the people you’ve worshiped with today, and pray.  We wanted to give you some direction to help you as you pray:

• “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalms 20:7
  • Lord, some trust in stressing about worst case scenarios, some trust in stockpiling, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.  So God, we trust you with our current reality.  And we trust you with all that is ahead.  You’ve got the whole world in your hands.
• “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgement.” 2 Timothy 1:7
  • Lord, we want to remember the spirit that you’ve given us, and Lord we want to be used by you so others can see your power, love and sound judgement in your people. We pray for those who are suffering from fear.  Lord, we pray that they would find rest and stability in Jesus.  Give us boldness and sensitivity to share the good news of Jesus with those around us.
• “So then, let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator while doing what is good.”  1 Peter 4:19
  • Lord, show us how we can serve those around us.  We want to entrust our lives to you as we serve others.  Open up our eyes to the needs of people and show us how to respond to those needs.
• “First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”  1 Timothy 2:1,2
  • Lord, we pray for our government leaders.  We pray that they would make decisions based on your leading for the good of all people.  We pray that our leaders who don’t know you would come to faith in Jesus.  Lord, we pray that all people would look to You for hope, peace and rest.
• “This is the message of faith that we proclaim: if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  With the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.”  Romans 10:9,10
  • If you believe this in your heart and want to follow Jesus, pray this: Jesus, I have not given You control of my life, but I want to now.  I believe that You died for me and that God raised You from the dead. I know that I need You to forgive me and I want to dedicate my life to following You.  I confess that I don’t deserve and can never earn your forgiveness, and I trust that You love me and You offer Your forgiveness to me.  All of my days belong to You. I will trust You and follow You.
